Farmer Jones Organic avocados are picked right here in the Bay of Plenty!
Will my avocados be organically grown?
Yes! All avocados grown at Farmer Jones Organics are 100% organic and spray free! Farmer Jones Organics is also Biogro Certified.
What is the season for Haas Avocados?
Mid-June until stock runs out!
How will I receive my order?
Freshly packed inside a box with added support to prevent bruising. As we pick straight from the tree to your box they will arrive unripe ready for your fruit basket.

What is MGO? What does MGO xxx + mean?
MGO is an abbreviation for Methylglyoxal – the major stable antibacterial component in manuka honey ranging from 100mg up to 1000mg/kg. MGO is a compound found in most types of honey, but usually only in small quantities – 2-5mg/kg. In manuka honey, MGO comes from the conversion of another compound, dihydroxyacetone (DHA), that is found in high concentration in the nectar of manuka flowers. The higher the level of MGO, the stronger is the antibacterial potency of Manuka Honey.
How much and how often to take Manuka Honey?
For medicinal purposes a teaspoon of honey is sufficient 3-4 timesa day. Keep it in the mouth until it is completely dissolved.
What is the most effective way to consume Manuka Honey?
In case MGO Manuka Honey is taken for health reasons, it is better to take it with no food, so that there is no interaction between MGO and proteins of the food. It can be taken with warm (not hot) water and lemon. Acidic environment is better for MGO, as it does not compromise it. Therefore, we recommend to take MGO Manuka Honey between meals or 30 minutes before each meal, three times a day.
Can Manuka honey be given to kids?
Honey is not recommended to infants under 12 months of age, as there is a meniscal chance of honey containing botulism spores, and infants do not have enzymes to fight it. Just to be on a safe side of events, we do not recommend Manuka Honey to kids under 2 years old.
How long will it last after opening manuka Honey?
If manuka honey is kept under room temperature or in the fridge, honey has no shelf life. It might lose some of the diastase, and HMF levels can increase, importantly it remains safe to consume.
Is it safe to eat manuka honey while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Manuka Honey, as well as all other honeys in the world consists of approximately 80% of natural sugars (glucose and fructose). During pregnancy some women have elevated levels of blood sugar, and need to be careful about their diet. Therefore, in this case we should refer them to consult their practitioners.
I hear that manuka honey has an anti-bactericidal action, but what exactly does it have?
All fresh honey has some antibacterial action due to the presence of naturally occurring Hydrogen Peroxide. Hydrogen Peroxide though is not stable. Heat, light and body enzymes destroy Hydrogen peroxide in seconds. That is why ordinary honey cannot be a reliable natural remedy against infection. Manuka Honey has stable antibacterial activity caused by naturally high levels of Methylglyoxal (MGO). MGO is not destroyed by high temperatures, body enzymes and even X-rays.

Why is the Avocado box I want not in stock?
The avocado season offers a diverse selection of fruit. During peak season, larger avocados may be more prevalent than at the beginning of the season. We strive to provide as much variety as possible throughout the entire season.
What steps can I take to ensure priority access to the avocado box I desire?
Please ensure that you subscribe to the desired seasonal box as subscribers will receive priority for their preferred fruit size.
